SPL’s Storytelling Symposium

A Video Training Program for Effective Storytelling

Storytelling Symposium Overview

Storytelling is more powerful than statistics.

The pro-life movement can have the unassailable biological facts and sound philosophical arguments, but it is our stories that capture imagination and create emotional resonance. Personal narratives shape cultural conversations and move public opinion. If you’d like to become a stronger pro-life advocate, learn to tell stories that are clear, relatable, and memorable.

Secular Pro-Life’s Storytelling Symposium is a free, nine-module video training program we created in collaboration with The Leadership Institute and Abortion Survivors Network. This training is designed to equip you for every stage of advocacy. You’ll learn how to structure a story that stays with your audience, find your authentic voice, and share your experiences in a compelling way. The training also covers media engagement, legislative testimony, and fundraising efforts.

Good storytelling also requires responsibility. This program covers the personal side of advocacy, including emotional readiness and setting appropriate boundaries to protect your mental health and your relationships.

If you are part of a pro-life organization that engages storytellers, the Storytelling Symposium can teach you how to evaluate their readiness, practice informed consent, and safeguard their long-term wellbeing as they share vulnerable parts of their lives publicly.

Whether you’re a new storyteller, veteran spokesperson, or part of an organization who engages storytellers, we can help you communicate powerfully and responsibly. Let’s get to work.
