Storytelling Symposium

A Video Training Program for Effective Storytelling

Storytelling Symposium Overview

Your turn to share your story

Congratulations on making it this far in the Storytelling Symposium! Now that you’ve completed the modules for Finding Your Voice, we invite you to think through your own story and share with others.

Evaluate your readiness

Before you explore the links below, take a moment to check in with yourself first.

  • Have you told the people closest to you, especially anyone mentioned in your story?
  • Do you feel emotionally ready for both support and criticism?
  • Do you have someone to talk to afterward, in case the response brings up difficult feelings?

If you’re not sure, it’s okay to wait. If you feel ready, below are resources for developing your story and platforms on which to share.

Take the Storyteller Self-Assessment

The Storyteller Self-Assessment is a six question worksheet to help you turn your personal experiences into clear, structured stories. It walks you through naming your reasons for pro-life work, choosing one experience to describe in sensory detail, finding metaphors for anything that might feel unfamiliar to listeners, and identifying one clear takeaway you want your audience to remember.

Explore platforms for sharing your story

Share with Secular Pro-Life

At Secular Pro-Life, we run interview series that focus on pro-life experiences people often overlook. Choose any survey below to tell your story. Some submissions appear on our blog. In all cases you can choose to tell your stories with your full name or anonymously.

Share with other pro-life groups

  • Support After Abortion: for those with stories of their own experiences with them or a partner getting an abortion
  • Abortion Survivors Network: for those with stories of surviving actual abortion attempts (not just from their mothers considering abortion, but from them actually taking pills or undergoing procedures)
  • Heartbeat International: for those who were helped by pregnancy resource centers, including those who have experienced abortion pill reversal

Share independently

There are many ways to share your story online without requiring a third party to choose to publish:

  • Share through your social media accounts (X, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, etc) with varying levels of anonymity, depending on your user names and account history.
  • Submit op-eds or letters to the editor on the subject.
  • Submit public comments to relevant legislation.
  • Attend walks or marches with a simple version of your story as your sign. (See Chapter 1: Tell Your Stories from our e-book 100 Pro-Life Sign Ideas).
